With two championship golf courses set in stunning surrounds at the world-renowned Powerscourt Estate, Powerscourt Golf Club is an immensely popular venue. The 36-hole championship layout ensures availability 7 days a week for societies, add to that friendly staff, outstanding facilities, and excellent dining, and it’s not hard to see why so many societies flock to the Estate each year. The East Course at Powerscourt offers something for everyone, with the traditional mix of four Par 3’s & Par 5’s, and 10 par 4’s. It is an incredibly enjoyable round of golf, with 3 of the par 3’s playing downhill, and the fourth and signature Par 3, the 16th hole, playing over water. The West Course offers a completely different feel and test which makes the course both rewarding and highly enjoyable. The beautiful scenery and greens from the West course will often be talked about by visitors who want a second chance at it. From the opening Par 5 playing from in front of the iconic Powerscourt House, this is a fantastic test.

Glasson Lakehouse Golf Club

Co. Westmeath

Glasson Golf Club is located in the center of Ireland, just 10Km north of Athlone and 2km from Glasson Village. Press Up Entertainment recently purchased the resort and is currently investing heavily in the enhancement of the Christy O’Connor Jnr design golf course. The renovations will see the redevelopment of the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17, and 18th hole with advanced drainage, allowing for year-round play. The new owners have also invested in new machinery, a new fleet of buggies, new pathways, and course signage, all of which will result in Glasson Lakehouse becoming the ‘Must-Play’ course of 2022. The full course re-opened for play from May 2021 and is quickly earning a reputation for being one of the most sought-after courses to play in 2022.

The K Club (South Course) 

Co. Kildare

Formerly known as The K Club, recently rebranded Straffan Golf Club is arguably the one of most improved golf courses in Leinster, within the past 12 months. The best way to describe the Arnold Palmer-designed Palmer South Course at The K Club is that of an inland links course. The golf course has many dramatic landscapes with dune style mounding throughout the Kildare Golf Resort. The Palmer South course has played host to some of golf’s most exciting moments. Who could forget the excitement of the 2004 Smurfit European Open when Retief Goosen went on to win just two weeks after taking his second US Open title? The Straffan Golf Club is guaranteed to offer enjoyment to golfers of all playing abilities. A ‘must’ for your 2022 society calendar!

Kilkea Castle Golf Club

Co. Kildare

Kilkea Golf Course has been developed in a magnificent setting, beneath the shadows of a 12th century Castle. In constructing this championship course, the designers have cleverly used the River Griese as a natural hazard flowing through the Castle grounds and estate. The combination of this water and a variety of other hazards and interesting greens ensures the golfer playing the course has a considered challenge on his or her hands. The clubhouse offers golfers the opportunity to unwind and relax after their game. Kilkea Castle really is an exciting choice for your society in 2022.

Tulfarris Golf Club

Co. Wicklow

Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort is a luxury four-star hotel and golf resort that is owned and run by an international hotel and hospitality management company, PREM Group. The 18- hole championship golf course should present plenty of challenges to golfers of all abilities, with several holes flanked by the beautiful Blessington Lakes. Since PREM Group purchased Tulfarris over €6 million has been spent on the property with over €1 million being spent on the golf course alone. Renovations on the course have really improved the overall golfing experience for society golfers, some of which include a brand-new contemporary, cedar-clad clubhouse and extensive course upgrades. If your society has not played at Tulfarris in the last couple of years make sure it’s on your shortlist for 2022.

Rathsallagh Golf Club

Co. Wicklow

Rathsallagh Golf Club, located in County Wicklow, is one of the finest parkland courses in Leinster. The 18-hole championship golf course is routed over rolling terrain and mature parkland. The condition of the course is almost second to none, the greens were built to the highest USGA specifications.
